This is a single channel video piece that is projected to fill the entire wall of a room. The video is black and white and features an image of myself sitting cross-legged on the floor. The camera crops all of my body except my legs, and my hands which are in front of my knees. Throughout the 2 hour video I am constantly trying to make ruby slippers using various types of shoes and various red media (glitter, sequins, shiny paper, beads, etc). Occasionally the video will turn to color for just a second or two, revealing a vibrant yellow floor, the red of the glitter (or whatever I’m using), and the blue of my pants. The soundtrack to the video is the entire soundtrack of the Wizard of Oz, but with all of the songs cut out, leaving just the dialogue.
